1987 Porsche Carrera 3.2

SOLD 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2  231bhp. This was originally a German registered car. It was imported to the UK in 1998 where it stayed until 2013 when I bought it and brought it over to Spain. It is on a Spanish historic registration, which means it’s Suma exempt and ITV’d only every 3 years.

It has had much care and attention. The engine was completely rebuilt just 6,000 kms ago by the classic Porsche Specialists Talleres Astur in Alicante. At the same time a new clutch was fitted, a stainless steel exhaust rear box (that alone was 1000€). All new shockers and bushes. The brakes have been rebuilt and it was retrimmed just after I bought it. This car has won its class in the MACCC Concours 3 times. Bills for everything and a complete service history from new.

The car is currently with Automart Benissa (tel 96 573 3311) where you can also find more photos. After 8 fabulous years I am afraid it has to go to make way for my Aston Martin DB9. This car has to be seen.

November 2020 Rally Update

With the poor weather forecast over the weekend, the committee are in two minds about whether to hold this rally or not. The fact is, this is the first rally in the history of the club where we have not all got together at the end, or even in the middle for the coffee stop. We are not allowed to meet in a large group under the current COVID-19 restrictions so, even in fine weather, this was always going to be a rally where we set off and met up in small friendship groups.

As always, the decision about whether to go on a rally or not is a decision for you to make and, no doubt, each of you will make that decision on Sunday morning.

So, bearing this in mind, the organisers will be at Fratelli’s on Sunday from 10:30 and the rally will go ahead on Sunday for those that want to.

The rally documents are available on the events page: /events/november-2020-rally/ so if you don’t do the rally on Sunday, in your own friendship group, you can choose to do it on any other day.

Do you want a club gilet this winter?

We are preparing for the winter and are about to place an order for gilets but we need to gauge the interest because, at 30€, these are expensive items and we don’t want to hold too many in stock. The gilets are high quality items from the Regatta Professional range and have the club logo embroidered on the left breast.

In addition, we are considering adding a short sleeved dress shirt to our range, at 27€. These are white cotton poplin shirts from Fruit of the Loom with the club logo embroidered on the left breast. Please select your size from this link: http://www.our-catalogue.com/WEWO/?search=ss411 (the image is shown in blue but it is available in white).

Please place your order, with your membership number, with David Wilson using david.wilson@marinaaltaccc.com. Your item(s) will be included on the next order.

A gilet can be viewed at the next Ace Café meeting at Saxo’s, Moraira, on Sunday 13th October 2019, which is also the closing date for orders.

2019 Goodwood Motorsport dates announced!

The dust has barely settled on Goodwood’s 2018 motorsport season, with the anniversary celebrations of Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival firmly cementing themselves in our history book.

After weeks of speculation, we can now reveal the dates of the 2019 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and Goodwood Revival:

Festival of Speed: 4th – 7th July 2019

We’ll be announcing more about the Festival over the coming months, but expect the usual array of stunning anniversary celebrations, supercar debuts, F1, rallying and sportscars building up to the incredible timed shootout on Saturday afternoon.

Who can forget the exploits of Romain Dumas in the awesome Volkswagen ID R Pikes Peak earlier this year? Smashing the electric hill record and pushing closer to the overall record than any have for several years. Will anyone go closer in ’19?

Goodwood Revival: 13th – 15th September 2019

The Revival Meeting, since 1998 a magical step back in time that each September recreates and celebrates the circuit’s golden age of racing between the late 1940s and mid-1960s, all played out in front of a period, movie-set backdrop. Expect to see awesome touring car battles, epic classic Formula 1 duels, two wheeled action and the mighty big-banger GTs battling for the RAC TT.

Some tips: it can be cold there, so bring warm clothes and umbrella just in case. The trip is a mixture of highway and secondary roads. The last 50 kms are very windy.

Parador of Cazorla:

This is your dream mountain getaway right in the middle of Spain’s Cazorla Natural Park . The Cazorla Parador is surrounded by untouched nature, pine forests and general wilderness. The absolute calm and quiet are what attract many to this remote refuge.

The Parador in Cazorla is a modern facility with a cosy, but bright, interior. There is a sitting room with a fireplace and an excellent restaurant that serves up special flavours from the local cuisine which favours meat and vegetables.

Cazorla :

Cazorla lies at an elevation of 836 meters on the western slope of the Sierra de Cazorla.

It is the entry point and base for visits to the Natural Park of Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, a vast protected area of magnificent river gorges and forests. Spain’s second longest river, the Guadalquivir, has its source in the mountains to the south of the settlement.

Distances to nearby cities are: Jaén, 121 km.; Granada, 205 km.; and Linares, 71 km.

The town is constructed around three main squares, the Plaza de la Constitución, the Plaza de la Corredera (or de Huevo, “of the Egg”, because of its shape), and the Plaza Santa Maria. This last square is the oldest and is connected to the other two by narrow, twisting streets. It takes its name from the old cathedral which, damaged by floods in the seventeenth century, was later burnt by French troops. It is now in ruin. Above the square sits an austere, reconstructed Moorish castle tower called La Yedra. Still higher up on the rocky escarpment lie the ruins of still yet another ruined fortress.
