Shell Discount Card

This offer is only available to members

As you probably already know, the fuel we are using for our classic cars has a percentage of ethanol: 10% in 95 octane fuel and 5% in 98 octane fuel. Ethanol has some features which affect some parts of the engine and can cause damage if the blend or additives in the fuel are not on the highest standards.

It is claimed that, because ethanol is an alcohol, ethanol dries out the rubber components in a fuel system, which leads to cracking and brittle fuel lines, floats, seals and diaphragms. Ethanol is hygroscopic, meaning it is like water. So, if you have fuel in your tank for a long period, for example, over 6 months, you may get water particles in your tank . To compensate this, some brands are putting additives in the fuel to try to stop this water build up. In my personal experience, trying out different brands of fuel, to avoid the build up of water and residues in our carburettors or injectors, you should use only best quality fuel available on the market.

A lot of members will know already that the best fuel for our classic car is 98 octane and if we can combine this with a premium brand, such as the V-Power provided by Shell, this the best we can give to our classic car.

Therefore, as a club, we have negotiated with Shell to get a discount on the fuel we buy from them. We now have an arrangement with Shell and this discount is applicable in all Shell petrol stations across the peninsula and Balearic Islands.

With this special card you will obtain a 0.05€ discount for each litre of fuel you buy. For example, 50 litres of fuel will result in 2.50€ discount. You have to show this card before paying and they will apply the discount.

You can obtain the card from the club. Once you have it, you must activate the card on the internet. Key in the code ‘MPMARI’ in the ‘Codigo de promotion’ field and the card number in the ‘Número de Tarjeta’ field, on the following link :

In addition, you can also obtain a points card ‘Puntos Shell Clubsmart’ to get points each time you will buy fuel; 1 point for each litre of fuel, and 2 points for each litre of V-Power fuel. After getting these points you can trade them in for free fuel or products from the shop. For example, for each 450 points you get, free, 3€ worth of fuel.

Of course, all the fuel purchases are valid for any/all of your cars not only your classic car.

I wish all our members happy driving and hope you will enjoy this offer from Shell.

All the best

Some members have experienced problems when registering their card. Here is the solution.

  1. The first problem is the First Name field. Most Spanish have two first names because their first name is often religious. For example, there are a lot of men called José. So, to avoid confusion when calling out their name, they use the second name as well, such as José Antonio, or José Alejandro. This means that the authorities actually recorded your first name and middle name, with a space in-between, in the First Name field when you obtained your NIE card. So key in both your first name and middle name in the First Name field.
  2. The second problem is the hyphen in your NIE number. Key in your NIE number without the hyphen (the penultimate character).
