Donation handed over to Cancer Care Javea

Better later than never, after handing over the 1500€ donation earlier in the year and not being allowed to meet up, with the Covid-19 restrictions now being eased, Peter and Richard have finally had the photo shoot with Cancer Care Javea! Costa Blanca News were in attendance and there is an article in the 14-20 May 2021 edition of the newspaper.

November 2020 Rally Update

With the poor weather forecast over the weekend, the committee are in two minds about whether to hold this rally or not. The fact is, this is the first rally in the history of the club where we have not all got together at the end, or even in the middle for the coffee stop. We are not allowed to meet in a large group under the current COVID-19 restrictions so, even in fine weather, this was always going to be a rally where we set off and met up in small friendship groups.

As always, the decision about whether to go on a rally or not is a decision for you to make and, no doubt, each of you will make that decision on Sunday morning.

So, bearing this in mind, the organisers will be at Fratelli’s on Sunday from 10:30 and the rally will go ahead on Sunday for those that want to.

The rally documents are available on the events page: /events/november-2020-rally/ so if you don’t do the rally on Sunday, in your own friendship group, you can choose to do it on any other day.

Do you want a club gilet this winter?

We are preparing for the winter and are about to place an order for gilets but we need to gauge the interest because, at 30€, these are expensive items and we don’t want to hold too many in stock. The gilets are high quality items from the Regatta Professional range and have the club logo embroidered on the left breast.

In addition, we are considering adding a short sleeved dress shirt to our range, at 27€. These are white cotton poplin shirts from Fruit of the Loom with the club logo embroidered on the left breast. Please select your size from this link: http://www.our-catalogue.com/WEWO/?search=ss411 (the image is shown in blue but it is available in white).

Please place your order, with your membership number, with David Wilson using david.wilson@marinaaltaccc.com. Your item(s) will be included on the next order.

A gilet can be viewed at the next Ace Café meeting at Saxo’s, Moraira, on Sunday 13th October 2019, which is also the closing date for orders.

Parador of Cazorla:

This is your dream mountain getaway right in the middle of Spain’s Cazorla Natural Park . The Cazorla Parador is surrounded by untouched nature, pine forests and general wilderness. The absolute calm and quiet are what attract many to this remote refuge.

The Parador in Cazorla is a modern facility with a cosy, but bright, interior. There is a sitting room with a fireplace and an excellent restaurant that serves up special flavours from the local cuisine which favours meat and vegetables.

Cazorla :

Cazorla lies at an elevation of 836 meters on the western slope of the Sierra de Cazorla.

It is the entry point and base for visits to the Natural Park of Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, a vast protected area of magnificent river gorges and forests. Spain’s second longest river, the Guadalquivir, has its source in the mountains to the south of the settlement.

Distances to nearby cities are: Jaén, 121 km.; Granada, 205 km.; and Linares, 71 km.

The town is constructed around three main squares, the Plaza de la Constitución, the Plaza de la Corredera (or de Huevo, “of the Egg”, because of its shape), and the Plaza Santa Maria. This last square is the oldest and is connected to the other two by narrow, twisting streets. It takes its name from the old cathedral which, damaged by floods in the seventeenth century, was later burnt by French troops. It is now in ruin. Above the square sits an austere, reconstructed Moorish castle tower called La Yedra. Still higher up on the rocky escarpment lie the ruins of still yet another ruined fortress.
